Six Nations History – The tournament was first played in 1883 as the Home Nations Championship including England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It then became the Five Nations Championship in 1910 with the addition of France. Ninety years later, in 2000, it became the Six Nations Championship with Italy joining the elite European rugby nations.
